My name is Ken Ruszkowski; I have finally made the decision to finally follow mydream career into the world of professional. Always working 9 to 5 for years then came the day I finally had the chance to follow through with the dream. Not too long ago I started to dabble with computer graphics and short stories, but there was something missing. The graphics I worked on were done by other artist or photographers, when I looked at pictures of people I found myself consumed about the photography end of it. It made me look at things and people differently, seeing their essence in the picture I thought to myself that is something I wanted to capture myself.
After finally getting my first digital camera, I started to play around and experiment with it, even though not knowing anything about Apure, Shutter Speed or ISO, I kept the camera on Automatic. All I did was take pictures whether it was landscape scenery or people I was having fun but also enjoying it more and more. Deep down I knew there was more to photography then what I was doing with my camera even though my pictures were coming out good I wanted to learn more and do more with photography.
Always admiring other pieces of work in magazines, trying to understand the concept on such detail and beautiful pictures but also trying to understand how they came to do such works of art. It was more with models and other people I started to admire, even though I knew there was post work done to the pictures but that was what really draw me to it how they did it and why they did it.
A few years ago I had the opportunity to upgrade my camera, but also to invest in other camera equipment, Lenses, and Tripod. I finally started to seek out more knowledge about photography, using the internet as my starting point I did come across some good learning sites that I could read up on. I discovered a meet up group that specialized with studio photography workshops; it was something I had been looking for. I knew I had a lot to learn so I started to attend as many workshops as I could, but also I invested in some studio equipment so that I could speed up the learning process. The only way to learn was to actually start doing it; I started reaching out to models in the area inviting them over for a photo session. During this time I just didn’t want to snap the picture, I felt I wanted to bring more to the table so I started learning about photo editing using Photoshop CS4 and then upgrading to CS5. I want to be able to complete the picture from start to finish. I felt It was important that I would be involved in every pictures from the time I pressed the shutter button to the time I hit the save button in Photoshop.
Even during the time I was learning about studio lighting I would try to bring my camera to any kind of event I was invited to so that I could start getting hands on experience doing events. None of these were an overnight success, it took time each one different in its own way, one being portraits the other being events. One thing I did notice about myself I would always come across that candid picture for some reason or another maybe it was a feeling I had or patience that was needed.
This wasn’t as easy as it looks, but I have learned and worked hard to get where I am now and I know I will keep experiencing new techniques.Nothing comes easy. You have to work hard and make sacrifices. I know in my heart now that it’s time to finally begin my journey as a professional photographer.
What I always promise with KBR Portraits that I will listen to what you want, not tell you what you should have. It’s about me being there for you, sharing my ideas with you and listening to yours, so we can make a beautiful photo together.
Thank you and I look forward to working with you whether in the studio or at an event, either way working with you would be an honor. I hope to have the opportunity to Capture Those Specials Moments for you and your family.
